Why should you give your money to the West of Scotland Military Wives Choir?
The West of Scotland Military Wives Choir is a self - funded, not for profit member of the Military Wives Choirs Foundation (Registered charity in England and Wales 1148302 & Scotland SC045217) and relies heavily on donations in order to continue the great work it does in supporting its own members as well as local and national good causes.
It is our mission to bring women in the military community closer together through singing. We aim to make a positive difference to women’s lives by providing opportunities to build friendships and develop skills and improve well being.
We couldn’t do this without the generous donations given by our supporters. Your support will help us to secure our future, so that we can continue to provide support to the military community in the West of Scotland.
The choir has supported many charities including SSAFA, the War Blinded, Erskine, the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and Maggies Meals. We have also been privileged enough to regularly perform in several local care homes. The great work the choir does for military families would be unable to continue without donations as the cost of childcare, music, musical direction and accompaniment mean our running costs are high.
Our members have had to cope with many individual struggles, from illness to loss to long-term separation from loved ones and their families. At any given time, at least one third of our members’ husbands are on deployment or working out of area. During this time, organising childcare to enable them to commit to choir rehearsals and performances can be a real challenge and accordingly we have developed a very successful babysitting service that runs alongside choir to give our members some welcome respite and alleviate this additional stress. This service is costly and highly subsidized by grants and donations.
Despite the difficulties we can have in attending, we find so much joy from joining together to sing…we really do believe we are ‘Stronger Together’. Thank you for your time and consideration - we hope we have inspired you to donate.
